The 2020 Copa do Brasil will be the 32nd edition of this Brazilian football competition organized by the Brazilian Football Confederation [1]. The draw for the first phase of the Championship takes place on December 12, 2019, in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
With the definition of the 70 representatives of the state federations and the eleven representatives classified directly to the round of 16, another ten clubs will be determined by the CBF Ranking for 2020.
The 80 teams classified for the competition were divided into eight pots (A to H) with ten clubs each, according to the CBF Ranking. From there, the crossings between the pots were as follows: A x E; B x F; C x G and D x H.
 The first phase will be held in a single match, with the lowest ranked team playing at home and the best having the advantage of a draw.
The second phase will be played by 40 winning teams from the previous phase, in a single match. In case of a tie, the spot will be decided in the penalty shootout. The matches in this phase will follow the predetermined switching of the previous phase.
The third phase will be played by 20 winning teams from the previous phase, in round-trip eliminatory matches. In the event of a tie on the aggregate scoreboard, the vacancy will be defined in the penalty shootout. The matches in this phase will follow the predetermined switching of the previous phase.
The fourth phase will be played by 10 winning teams from the previous phase, in round-trip eliminatory matches. In the event of a tie on the aggregate scoreboard, the vacancy will be defined in the penalty shootout. The matches in this phase will be drawn.
The round of 16 will be played by 16 teams, 5 of whom won the previous round, and another 11 teams pre-classified. Round-trip eliminatory matches. In the event of a tie on the aggregate scoreboard, the vacancy will be defined in the penalty shootout.
