Chess breaks the rules when played incorrectly. Although I wasn’t sure if I was ready, I decided to give it a try. I had to completely forget about normal chess in order to win at Really Bad Chess. Because of this, the number one rule of Really Bad Chess is that you have to give up on most of what you know about chess. New challenges await those with pro chess experience. Really Bad Chess forces players to play differently than they normally would. The game’s unconventional way of arranging chess pieces affects the traditional way of playing the game. Additionally, players can choose any chess piece as their starting point and any other positions. In Really Bad Chess, players feel like they're battling the king every game. Regular chess positions only feature one king chess piece. This app is great for people who are just starting to learn the game of chess. It helps break down the initial misconceptions new learners have when they first start playing chess. This app makes learning chess fun and doesn’t require the learner to exit the game to learn each individual puzzle. Chess fans won’t find this game boring because it won’t contain any of their own information that they already know. Regardless of your progress, the game’s artificial intelligence opponent remains in an even position. However, this balance shifts dramatically when you start winning games. This makes for an enjoyable experience for no matter how fast you progress. I love Really Bad Chess because of its appealing graphics, simple but attractive design, and innovative new features. Chess is one of those games I always wished I enjoyed, but its commitment to beauty, elegance, and perfect balance always turned me away. Really Bad Chess removes these boring restrictions and flips chess on its head.

As much as random pieces change the game in some ways, I was really surprised to notice how much the game remains the same, and how powerful some pieces are — you've never truly struggled against a pawn until you've struggled against a pawn in the back row.

For chess pros, Really Bad Chess will give you a new type of challenge — the pieces & the moves are the same, but you'll have to throw out your openings and your understanding of normal patterns of play.

For novice chess players (like most of us), Really Bad Chess greatly opens up the game. Instead of starting by studying openings, in your first games you'll get to discover the joy (and challenge!) of learning how to checkmate.
