Released in 2003, Skype is a free software application that allows users to make audio and video calls to group or individual peers. Although Microsoft acquired Skype in 2011, its creators— Niklas Zennstrom, Janus Friis and Kazaa developers Ahti Heinla and Priit Kasesalu— first released the software in 2003. Skype allows you to communicate with anyone, even if they're located in a different location. Skype has broken down many barriers to communication and is widely used across the globe. You need to create a Microsoft account in order to use Skype. If you haven't already, you can register a new one. After registering, you can access Skype's contact list by searching for a contact's name in the Skype screen's search bar, their email address, phone number or display name.
