Since the dawn of mankind, religion has been an integral part of the human experience. Over time, countless religions converged, eventually taking on ontological reality. Nine of the strongest faiths formed nine outer planes of existence. But as time wore on, the conflicts between the different religions resulted in an endless dispute amongst believers. The collision of these religions' power eventually disrupted the balance between the planes, causing them to collapse.
Under the guidance of the believers that survived, the leftover plane fragments merged with the material plane that mankind resides on.
