Lanota's story begins with a terrifying event called Al Niente, which causes all sounds and colors on the planet to disappear. This is not necessarily the end, however; the world instead recovers from the disaster by liberating Notalium. This allows people to return everything they once had. The Notalium energy source was originally created by ancient cultures. However, they were unable to create anything more due to the nature of their creation. Since then, Notalium has been used to preserve sounds and colors. It's also been unstable for some time before our main characters are called to stabilize it. This stabilization effort will ultimately lead to the salvation of the world.

While exploring Lanota, you’ll notice its unique visual design that draws your attention. Every new area will present new challenges, and the story will be told in a way that leaves you awe-struck. The game's music-dependent levels need to be solved correctly using tap and touch. These mechanics are completely understandable to players but require long practice to master. When passing through the judge line, notes appear. You must touch the notes as they appear in order to succeed. If you don't, your attempt will fail and no one will hear your music. As a music game, players face many different challenges as well as a short time to prepare before their elements appear. This makes the game similar to other circular games— players can see all locations at once. Before the player is even in front of a note, many different kinds appear and force them to use specific methods of interaction.
