The primary focus of Soul Knight is the world of magic stones that influence the surrounding environment. These stones play a key role in maintaining balance in the world, and players experience the story through it. One day, people with malicious intent discovered these stones and stole them. Because these stones aren’t where they belong, the resulting chaos demands someone who engages in challenging battles to return them to their proper place. In 2D, you move around the protagonist as if observing them from afar. Instead of exploring old ruins, you constantly face new monsters who threaten your safety at every turn. You'll wage war against an unpredictable number of enemies at the same time. You'll combat them with the tools and skills at your disposal. Additionally, you receive ongoing support as you navigate the monument's floors.

When exploring the ruins in Soul Knight, players encounter enemies who emerge through red light columns. These enemies continually attack the player, enabling them to move freely and find a suitable attack position. The starting weapon is a poor pistol with no energy cost; it's only useful for finding chests that provide unexpected rewards over time. Chest openings don’t merit passing up for a number of good reasons. Many contain special items that restore health and mana when abused— or repeatedly hit— or draw heavy use of mana-consuming weapons. You can obtain powerful bazookas by using this time as an opportunity to increase your number of held weapons. Each character can only carry a limited number of weapons; too many and you’ll have to drop one. When you play this game, you’ll find yourself in a multiplayer environment where you work cooperatively to vanquish a multitude of enemies. You’ll quickly realize that it will take longer than expected to clear the room because of the sheer number of enemies. This is due to the fact that your teaming up with friends in the game changes how you play— it makes for a stress-relieving experience.

Each room contains a boss that requires attention. Recognizing them requires knowing how strong an enemy looks through size and health indicators. Most bosses have a wide variety of enemies around them. Your weapons and combat skills will help you fight your enemy. Going up this next floor will require a great deal of effort— but it's worth it for the next step in your progression. On the right side of the monitor, you can see a map of the monument you entered. Also, any square that stands out from the rest will be marked with a brighter color. You'll also discover many rooms to explore; some contain chests that need to be opened. Additionally, you'll have to consider which portal to use as you progress through the floors. Because of this, it's important to choose support powers wisely so you can access the next portal.

Becoming a Soul Knight offers numerous unique characters and weapons to collect and use. Each weapon has its own special abilities to utilize against the boss or eliminate enemies quickly in different rooms. Plus, owning multiple weapons allows for different strategies when fighting the boss. Addons containing information on characters with special powers can be purchased. You can also use tier lists from various sources to determine the best character to purchase. Once you have chosen a character, make sure they're a tank— either one who survives long enough to fight the boss or one who can take damage and keep fighting.

Players have to navigate increasingly dangerous terrain filled with monsters as they climb floors. Chest rewards unexpectedly includes powerful destructive weapons. Multiplayer mode provides an extra challenge to the game, because it forces you to face the challenge with other players. After killing the boss on each floor, you need to head to the next floor to access new powers. Players can choose from a large number of characters and weapons as well as many strategies.

I recently spent 19 hours playing this interesting board game. Many people may find that hard to believe, but I assure you it’s true and very worthwhile.
