The first game in the WipEout Rush series lets players participate in a futuristic racing event. During this event, participants spot speedy spacecrafts that employ advanced science and engineering. They can even pilot one of these vehicles during the competition. One important fact to note when playing this game is that participants don’t manually control the vehicles. Instead, the cars self-drive automatically. You must properly propel a spaceship and avoid your opponent. You can accomplish this by adhering to two rules. First, you must launch the spacecraft to gain momentum. Second, you must never pass your opponent when he or she is adjacent to you. In addition to this, you can utilize your special weapon as soon her match begins. When enemies are frozen, they can't perform actions for a set duration. When you finish the introductory tutorial for WipEout Rush, you get to explore an equally intriguing new gameplay mode— one that features many new ships to discover. You receive a boat right away, and another one will appear at the same time. After swapping files, you'll see a brief cutscene introducing a new spacecraft. Then, you should drag one file to the other to perform the merge. People can find boats inside the mysterious boxes that appear over time. These boats were once owned by the person who opens the box, providing materials for creating new, more impressive vessels. At level 2, you’ll unlock a new feature called a garage. It lists all the boats you’ve unlocked, making it easier to purchase them. Additional benefits of this feature include unlocking the ability to buy more boats and expanding the list of available boats.

The game's tutorial is an exception to the rule. Instead of using cheats, the tutorial is a race through the game's first area. If you level up multiple times while merging lanes, a new game mode will appear. You'll learn about the other ship's weapons and starship by connecting with an opponent. From this point, you can decide which spaceship to use to beat other players in contests. The same gameplay continues without alteration. You lose against this adversary because you don’t have any weaponry at your disposal. In the future, you can create different weapons with varying properties and supply them to your ship.
